Great pvp and best rule set of any MMO to date.

Worst UI I've ever seen, primitive, bugged, shallow PVE, shit guild management, no content, crap travel that requires suicide to circumvent, generic looking gear, no /who, shit chat, broken and vague feats, nothing even remotely resembling class balance, no end game, no mid game, only one shit starting town, auction/bank designed by a monkey, endlessly zoning, etc.

Outside of world PVP and the endless fun finding new ways to grief I really don't see this game having any longevity. I'll stay subscribed because I can amuse myself for months with random ganks but I really don't see this game having a large pop for very long.

Is there some greater plan or vision that I've missed out on?

I really enjoy AOC. It has the right "feel" about it. There are no ******* elves or cute pink haired gnomes. The cities look like human cities from the dark ages and not something from the Toys r us "little pony" collection. The potential for politics and conflict over important locations is present and an important factor in the game. If I want to strip down my TOS and dance naked with tits flopping in the middle of a muddy little shithole town surrounded by decapitated guys impaled on poles I can. The PVP has a brutality about it I rather enjoy even tho it is far from balanced or perfect.

Will it keep me for 5+ years like Asherons call did? If funcom follows through with its promises of fixes and updates and expanded content I would say yes.

If funcom caters to the carebear WOW types and pussies up PVP or takes the game to a teen rating and we do not see fullfillment of promises made I would say no.

As of now I would say they have me for 6 months. That was about how long I played Planetside before I gave up on the company that made the game. Its up to Funcom. The players will make the game fun. It will be up to Funcom to keep the players.
