Mounts at higher level

I understand that preordering the game gave some people a special mount which can be used at the appropriate level.

I was wondering if those of you who have either gotten to the higher levels without having preordered or simply heard it around the water fountain have found that you can buy the mammoth and war rhino?

Most games give players items that are either ornamental in nature or are replaced at higher levels, preorder being just an early advantage.

If I can't make the money and buy the mount then there really is no reason to play this game having missed out on the preorder. If however people who got the game early simply get the mount for free then it's nothing that can't be overcome with a bit of work.

From what I gather reading the net is that they are exclusive to pre-order right now. However they will likely make them available for purchase to others down the road, just with a different graphic.

I will agree though that giving out a useful, exclusive item in game is really stupid for a developer. WoW gave out exclusives and still do through the trading card game, but they are vanity items and have no bearing on gameplay.

As long as the equivalent can be had buy purchasing in game, it's not so bad. Still, having exclusive items, such as the mounts for pre-order or the ring for the CE are bad ideas IMO. Vanity items are one thing, but useful items should be available to everyone.

It seems though that horses are the only mounts available now to the general public, and although faster, they do not have siege capabilities.

Mammoths are riddiculous are more or less useless. I mean don't get over come by the FLURRY OF MISINFORMATION surrounding this game. If AoC ever comes out with the official strat guide this crap will be explained. Till then, we're all stuck with half-truths.

You can run and sprint faster than all the current mounts in the game, except the epic ones that cost around 150g, and if after lvl 45 you even have 1.5g, good luck. All other mounts are more or less useless, the one great thing they do is "Sprint" as in usually yer sprint drains yer stamina per tick, but Horses can sprint with serious lack of drain for a good amount of time. Rhinos look cool, so do Mammoths, but that's it man, they can't run fast, they can barely manuver, even with the latest patches, and for right now its as cool as the WoW Panda pets.

The lvl 80 "epic-type" mounts are sick. They run fast, they stamina drain slow, they are what you are thinking when it comes to mounts, and I'm sure they will be sold as Rhino, Mammoth or Horse...but it will be July, before someone raises that kinda of capitol, and they can tell you about it then.
