I'll admit, I do watch to see how I compare against others. But I think [particularly while pugging] people get too obsessed with the meters and forget they are part of a group and have a job to do. All they care about is where they are on the meter.

As a mage, I tend to pay attention to other mages more than I pay attention to other classes, so I'll use mages as an example. I see players that don't sheep, decurse, whatever; just because they don't want to stop the damage for 2 seconds. They don't let the tank get aggro, they pull aggro and don't keep track of their threat, etc.

What's your opinion on damage/healing meters?

As well, I get annoyed with the people that after every kill ask for the damage meter. . . I am always like. . . " no why don't you get your own damage meter if you are that dang curious about it" . . . it usually pisses them off so much that they either leave the group or just get really pissed off.

I do use damage/healing meters. . . and I only post at the end of the instance/group event or what ever it is. I am a mage as well. . so I like to top the dmg charts. . and I do take it personally when people out DPS me. . . but I know my role in a group. . I don't pull (unless told to do so. . ) and I have an aggro meter so I don't go beyond what I need to. . if you understand what I mean.
