So I am assuming that you rolled a pure DPS class to DPS right? Well good, all three of your trees help you do that in different ways and in different places (PvE or PvP.) I am also assuming that if you had ANY desire to tank or heal, you would have rolled a "hybrid" anyway, so I don't see why you are complaining that other people have the option to do what you don't want to anyway.

Let's take a look at some examples of classes

Rogue: Pure melee DPS class, has 3 trees devoted to DPS, some trees better for PvP, some for PvE but always enhancing DPS.

Shaman: Offensive hybrid 2 DPS trees, 1 Healing tree, obviously a class more focused on DPS since there are two methods of doing it.

Paladin: Defensive hybrid 2 Defensive (healing and tanking) and one offensive tree, more options for defensive playstyles, and limited choices to be offensive (you better be 2h ret to play an more offensive oriented paladin)

Druids: Jacks of all trades, choices of both types of DPS, healing and tanking

Mages: Pure ranged magic DPS, three trees dedicated to enhancing the abilities of a specific type of ranged magic DPS

I don't think any mage, rogue lock or whatever can claim that they actually want to tank or heal on that character, the person that rolls a mage almost certinaly rolled that class because they wanted to do magic damage, and they have a plethora of options to choose exactilly how to do that.

The idea of a hybrid is so out of date, it's all about options, not specific roles
