Open beta?

I signed up for the beta a long time ago for this game. I never heard anything, never got an invite. Today i just found out that you can just go to some site and get the key if you want it? I mean... Why didnt they just send an invite to me, when its open now?

The "open beta" from my understanding means they gave out thousands of beta keys to sites like Fileplanet which you can grab for free. NCSoft hasn't done beta invites in awhile. Might still be available.
