EVE Online is set to expand it's domination of the space MMO market. The grand strategy? Bring EVE to Linux and Mac platforms, that's how. Here's the dealio: CCP is partnering with a company called TransGaming Inc. TransGaming specializes in this sort of thing, and will be (supposedly...) able to bring EVE to Mac and Linux later this year.
Although we're not so sure the projected timing of this one will pan out, we are confident that expanding EVE to Linux and Mac will yield some very positive results. While most MMOs simply ignore these platforms (Windows holds 95% of the marketplace or more), they are forgetting one thing: Mac and Linux gamers can be fanatically loyal, and they don't have a lot of gaming choices. This combo means that most Linux/Mac gamers will be trying, and probably keeping, EVE when the time comes.
