Hello World,, of Warcraft! Lifee here!

So, I want to share my experience with my mage, where I have NOT spent the 8G on that level 68 mage spell. You know of which spell I speak...

I'll try to refrain from using the word:

▀█▀...█▄.........█.█▀▀▀.█......█.█...........▀▀█▀▀ .█.█.█
...█......█...▀▄...█.▀▀▀█.█......█.█.............. ...█.......█.█.█
▄█▄...█.........▀█.▄▄▄█.█▄▀█.█▄▄▄........█.......▄ .▄.▄

As I want to be objective, and let people know that there is still LOTS of fun and frivality in WoW life without THAT SPELL.

OK, so, where to start..

Well, I forget exactly when I got to level 68. As best I can remember, I did the usual thing, I immediately teleported to the SW mage trainer, and clicked on the "Trainable" filter, and loaded up on every spell I could.

EXCEPT, I used EXTREME CAUTION this time. Unlike any time previous to then, I went SLOWLY.... VERY SLOWLY through the list. As, I REFUSED to buy that spell. As I remember, it worked out to be the last spell in the list, but I was WELL PREPARED to not click on it by mistake, if it showed up before any other spell. And I took notice to denote its 8G cost. And then left it there.

Yes, I walked (err, blinked) away from the trainer feeling both PROUD AND FREE, for NOT having bought that spell. The BEST 8G, I NEVER spent. And onto WoW life I went. Of course, I returned back to the trainer for level 69 and then 70, being very CAUTIOUS to never purchase that spell. And I've even gone back, to give myself a good heaping:

█.......▄▀▀▄.█.......
█.......█......█.█.......
█▄▄.▀▄▄▀.█▄▄.

So, how is life for me without that spell?
Has there been moment, when SURELY that spell would have made THE difference to winning?
What about PvP. How is life there?

Well, being a Frost mage, my life in PvE is charmed. If the Frostbolt snares it, I can kite it. And as one of our more famous mages Faxmonkey says "If we can kite it, we can kill it"... So typically, I do the Frost Mage TANGO with mobs, keeping my distance, and some times breaking out my WE dance partner. But, I am either going to win, or I'm blinking (and running) away. Basically, there's never a need.

In raids, I take great pride in either being able to RUN OUT, without using that spell. Or going down with the ship. LOL, too many times, I've seen other mages pop that in an impending wipe, only to get SMUSHED on the scenery, while I'm hoofing it out of the instance. One time, in Kara, we were wiping on those Flesh beasts, just past the Chess event. I blinked and boogied on out, and jumped off the railings, and then proceeded to sprint out to the side entrance. LOL, did I laugh. LOL, one time, the rest of the raid was betting I'd have to run naked past some respawned guards, and the call for a rez, cause they knew I did not have THAT SPELL. But fortunately, they had not respawned, and I got by. So, in raids, it has made no difference, other than inspire humor for situations I survive, while those with it, die. Over all, including long boss fights, that spell has caused more grief to other mages. Since I got KTM, I've never seen a mage use it to manage aggro as the spell's WHOLE whoop-de-doop is supposed to be about now. Not once. And strangely, I have seen warlocks use the Soul Shatter thingy with KTM, where POOF, suddenly, their aggro dropped below my own. But never a mage. And, OH BY THE WAY, I've yet to see another mage save their REPAIR bill from that spell either.

In PvP, I've YET, to see a mage use the spell for anything. Which seems really weird. I mean, even with fellow PvP raiders. Other than the WONDERFUL Ice Lance, the PvP experience seems to be exactly the same now as it was before THAT spell was released. Except for the potions before BC. For those that did not catch me way back then. I had done a series of tests pre-BC with THE potions, and if I could, I'd continue using the potions now. Back then, before they were ~~adjusted~~ to be as good (~~bad~~) as the spell, they did make a difference, albeit, from a very slow cooldown of 10 minutes.

In Arena, I've seen it used a lot. I've been with another mage using it, and been in battles where the other teams mage used it. It totally seems to cripple the mage if they use it in Arena. I think its perhaps due to lag, but whatever it is, it seems to guarantee that which ever mage uses it, their enemies get a clean shot/spell/hit off on that mage every time. I'd guess, I'd have to reccommend to mages in Arena using it, always pop off Mana Shield or Ice Barrier before it ends, to ensure you don't get WHACKED on your way out.

So, over all, I feal JOY, whenever I can do something as a mage DESPITE not having that spell. And I get further enjoyment when another mages does use that spell, and only disaster results.

So, for those, not yet level 68, and say, saving up for that first flying mount. Save the 8G, until you get your mount at the least. You'll never regret it.

Invisibility? You'll eventually save more than 8g in repair bills, therefore not getting it is actually costing you. And it has a cool effect, even if you don't use it for it's purpose you can still randomly pop it and look at the pretty.
