Recently I've become aware that Gold buyers on WOW are frowned upon.

I used to be a strong supporter of buying items for Diablo 2, through discussion I realized that the items that you buy for D2 are created by duping, which causes the game to LAG very bad.It also ruins the Economy of the game. I decided this is bad.

Now with WOW I was under the impression that gold was simply found by other players and then sold to someone else.

PLEASE correct me if I am wrong. Why is buying gold so wrong? I am willing to listen and learn so PLEASE do not ban me MODS, but I would like to know the logic behind the "badness of buying gold".

it is only frowned upon because people think it is a form of cheating. Instead of taking the 2-3 months (or how ever long it might take you) to get the gold for this certain item, you can go to some website, and buy gold, getting it instantly (in some cases). People say that it takes away from the game when they spend all day grinding and farming for gold and you just buy it. . .

I personally don't see a problem w/ buying gold. . I do it all the time. . . I never sell it. . that is just stupid in my opinion. . selling gold. . . USE IT DON"T SELL IT!!! That is just my opinion though. . . .

Think about this, and I'm not saying its bad or good just from a logical standpoint, would you want someone in an endgame raid who didn't have enough time to play and just bought their levles and gear by paying gold farmers/power levelers? Do you think they'd have any idea how to play their class or their role? All those lvl 70 epics would pretty much be useless.
Now I guess I can see if you're a lvl 40 Rogue and think you just NEED the gutripper, but wouldn't be able to afford the price until lvl 50 something and just can't get it to drop for you, yeah I guess I can see spending 20$ or so on some gold to get you there, but I can't see buying hundreds of dollars worth of gold and powerleveling, then being a 1337 noob.

Well, your gonna find people that are for it and against it. Both sides make valid points.

It just depends on how you feel about it.

Some people think its ok because they dont have the time to dedicate to get all the good gear, so they buy gold with real money to buy the stuff that they want. Same reason they pay someone to level a character for them. They dont have time, but want to enjoy end game content.

Others are against it because its not part of the game, it MAY ruin the economy in game, its "cheating".

But whatever, its really how you feel about it. Its your own opinion.
