Let me begin by saying i'm a casual player. My playtime ranges between 3-5 hours a week. I enjoy the game and feel that in a lot of cases it's a much better diversion than sitting in front of the tv for a few hours.

I noticed as my character progressed in levels so did the time I devoted to the game. Friends I've made along the way were out leveling me and I felt like I was playing a constant game of "catch up". Life's obligations prevented me from really sinking my teeth into the game and as a result I threw in the towel and stopped playing.

My brother is a devoted WOW player and he clocks in about 15 hours a more a week into the game. He says it's absolutely necessary if you are serious about competing in high end content. I'm wondering if there is any sort of merit to his statement. Is it possible for a casual player to eventually reach epic status or is that something only reserved for those that can devote more than 10-15 hours a week to the game?

PvP is your best bet for end game epics if you have a job and or family - especially if you don't have a lot of friends that play on your server. You will have to do Arena battles to get any more than 3 epic pieces so it is still a big time sink. Soon (I hear anyway) the gladiator season 1 stuff will be available for honor points and thus available to those of us with less play time. Hopefully we'll have some time to enjoy them before the next expansion makes them garbage again.

You write in complete sentences therefore most people on here will not understand you. With that said, no it's not possible to get epiced out if you are only playing 5 hours a week. Most casual players just have fun rerolling alts and getting them to level 40 or so.
