View Full Version : Why does pve cost 10x more than pvping?

I would really like to know why raiding costs me 10x more gold and 10x more time JUST TO GET READY FOR A RAID when the rewards are equal in strength.

"PvE (Raiding)
Requires farming of consumables: flasks, potions, weapon enchants (oil, stones)
Requires repair bills: whether or not you wipe a lot it could be from 5g-60g a night
Requires farming outside of raids to obtain resist sets and keys
Usually requires 4-5 nights a week, all consumables need to last for usually 4 hours a night

PvP
Show up every day for 2 hours and pay repair bills based on damage received

What's not to get? You often have to farm your dailies for 2 hours a night or more depending on your class for PvE to be able to afford, and PvP you can just do one set of dailies a week and be fine. The excuse that once on farm you start gaining money is invalid: the money gained only tends to relieve you of having to farm until your guild starts learning new content. PvP'ers get enough money due to not having to spend any on their gear progression that they can spend it in places PvE'rs can't, like alts."

The above is a quote from Mystiq a player.

I do not have much of a problem with raiding. I have a problem with having to farm, just to raid. Raiding is the funnest thing for me to do in WoW. Farming being a core part of raiding is a bad design(Good if they're just after money I guess >_>). I would rather raids be 2 hours longer and require no farming than having to kill the same mob for 2 hours simply to get ready for a raid.

PvPers do not have to deal with that. They just log on, talk to a goblin and they're right in the action. This is what I want as a raider. I want to log on, join the raid and get to the instance and start raiding. Currently though, we do not have that. It really sucks when I farm for a raid almost as long as I raid!

Please address this issue.

Continued from the last thread where i kinda demolished your credibility.

"Right, but it didn't.

Yes, PvE drops are random, which is why PvP and PvE should be considered equal, understand? If not, keep on failing. Enjoying reading your posts in which you completely miss a simple point."

Let me try to wrap my head around this.... Since PvE drops are random, they should be equal to PvP rewards that are in no way random? Wait I don't get it. Plz explain

You see - you're talking about how PvE loot is easy to get, that is not the point of this thread. I am telling you I don't care yet you keep posting the same thing. So here, for one last time I will explain this to you and if you bring it up again, I will simply ignore you.

PvE drops are random. You can get lucky and get everything in 1 run, or you can get bad luck and never see anything. In PvP, you always know when you're getting loot and what loot it is. You do not have that option when raiding. This is why you have to consider them equal, because you can't judge how fast you get loot in PvE since it is based on personal experience. If you have bad luck, you're clearly going to think PvP is faster, and it might be. If you have good luck, you're clearly going to think PvE is faster, and it might be.

It is based on your experience whether getting loot from PvE or PvP is faster. That's it. No more, no less. If you want to discuss it further, make your thread.

Back to the original topic - Why do we get equal rewards when I have to pay 10x more gold and farm 10x longer.

No. They are the same.

Nah, one is against other players.

The other is against artificial intelligence.

One has a FPS type of objective.

The other has a dungeon crawler objective.

One has players striving for being the best

The other has players striving to down another creature.

One has currency A

One has currency B

They are different.

Well, they both yield equally strong gear that takes equally long time to get, but one requires you to farm for 2-3 hours and pay 218g before doing it while another requires you to pay 35g and 15minutes.

I thought in the other thread we managed to convince you to reduce the 218g by 10 and have it be 198g. (Yes, OP doesn't know that 218-10=208...and would never admit he made a mistake).

WoW 218g a day does your guild suck? No im not joking do they. Its true i do not grind every day but for one day out of the week i do not pvp I grind for the following weeks pvp needs and that is more grinding then I did for raiding. Unless your supplying the entire guild with stuff 218g is crazy. Everyone in the guild should be required to submit a certain number of items used as raw mat (not including cloth for bandaids) so one person isnt allways farming out the mats for flasks and potions. Thats how we always did it but eh what do i know.
