View Full Version : is it illegal to alter wow scripting if your not going to profit?

I Just wanted to know if changing the World of Warcraft scripting language to say get a complete set of cool armor for a movie if your not going to profit?

If you are talking about changeing models such as having the level 1 armor look like full epic sets, Then no it is not becuase its client side and only you can see it and it is not altering the way you play or giving you an advenatage. BUT if you where to change scripting of the game to change your stats or get armor or just in any way gives you an advantage then yes it would be. Depends on what you are talking about.

I think if you signed on it might be seen. I'm not sure if you're saying you would stay offline/client side to do this or what.

Sounds like a risk to me.

if your changing models for yourself and its not an advantage like I said only YOU can see it but others can't. As far as I know its not illegal. But if you would like I could double check.

Well i guess it would be to change models but ONLY to make a movie,but i wanted to make my movie online because most of my friends want to help me make it! Do you think making my movie on a my own server would be better or online in the game?

I would have to say that making your own server is more time comsuming and is also not allowed for sure. But I really don't think it would bother blizzard to change models since they are having a movie contest on youtube. Anyways best of luck.

thanks i think i understand what i must do any tips would be helpful to making a quality movie Because i've had people tell me about other ways besides fraps and gamecam but i am not exactly sure about all the software i need?

any tips would be appreciated!thanks

WOW! this link is great. it really helps but what i was actually asking is if anyone had tips to use say 3Ds Max that is one of the programs I am going to learn in school. I was told by someone that i can import models from wow and use screenshots to splice together the scenery and control models with the program. I believe this would be the way to go to make the kind of movie i want to make. I just wanted tips on what kinds of programs i can use to get this done. Or only shoot scenes when all the people i play with are on! or any tips on accessing wow models to change them in to exactly what i want or say have 1000 taurans in full matching epic sets riding matching mounts and in perfect formation to fight an army or gnomes humans elves and dwarves in the same configuration. any tips on that would be insightful.

I found a .exe that makes it really simple to make your own server. Yes it's a torrent, but its the new private server with the 2.0.10 patch!!

I dont think it would be illegal id ask Blizzard explain to them what you want to do they should understand.
