I don't think it's the buying of gold...they do mass messages. My whole party will get spammed and I know that two haven't bought or ever been interested in buying gold for the game.

It's whoever is on at the time. They probably just use scripts to hit whoever is online. Sucks to get spammed when you're having a very important conversation and it gets lost!

For botters like myself, spam from gold sellers can be a bit annoying. Since we have to be paranoid about player and GM whispers, seeing a large pile of purple text on our screen can be quite a shock. It's that moment of 'Oh no!' before you find out its from a pesky gold seller. It can be a pain to those who listen to the sound alerts some bots make when a player whispers you. You might go to sleep and leave the speakers on, and get woken up by one of these whispers.

Someone mentioned GM whispers..Could you elaborate? What kind of things do they say? Whats the purpose?

I had a strange whisper a few weeks ago while a lvl 58 grinding timbermaw rep. A level 6 first asked me "If i had a minute". After I said yes, they then asked me if I could make him some Swiftthistle tea. I thought it strange because noone is polite and asks you if you have a minute. Perhaps he thought i was being powerleveled or something.

I do always try to be polite...and ask if they do have time for me...so maby it was just a well educated person ;) But I agree, most people just think you're only there to help them, and even then, you'll nearly never get a "thank you" to hear...+seufz+ (I would write the english word, but i just don't know it... :o ;) :D )

if any of you will use it, please tell me if its working. would be nice

Spamsentry Rocks!! I've been using it for a while now and stops all the spam comming through in chat, even in the major cities.
Also it gives the option to automatically report the spam whispers to GM's if you want.

in my opinion, spammers exist because of the market demand. it is simplely as some players need the gold or someting else, and so there are people satisfied this demand.

Agreed, problem is that some sites, at least on my server, dont advertise ingame. Im not saying their the best but i've never seen an advert ingame for WoWMine, so eventhough the buyers keep the buisiness going, it doesnt mean that bothering people with unwanted spammers is helpfull for your business. And since theres no real way to stop em (till i found SpamSentry) they keep annoying the hell out of gamers.

As vincenpi said, advertise always disturbed people who unwant the service.
but standing side the advertiser, they should do something to attract more clients. this is the strategy. like www.gmbar.com mentioned, advertising ingame is one way of strategy, right?:rolleyes:

yup spamm sux crazy at Kj server and have hide from those spamming at the champion hall, no spam and no nothin gets into there and just have to wait for next patch, blizz will kill all those damn spammer mod and hope it come out faster

MMOINN spam is horrible actually on Durotan server of World of warcraft us.

Dunno if its the same for ya guys... be they really start to ruin the game. Now with that 3 others company are starting to do offensive spam on private tell and general. Why they have to spam so often and why Blizzard is not suing those company?

Play on Durotan myself. Some days its rewal quiet, and i never get hit with a message, then other days its like non stop. I usually buy 5k gold a month, maybe if i pay a little extra they will stop spamming me. lol

Me...Me. If I'm going to bother someone I do not know, out of the blue, I ALWAYS ask if they have a minute to talk. I never asked anyone for more than information or to join their guild. I think it rude no matter how polite you are. They don't owe me anything (unless we're in the same guild. Thats slightly different.) . It they are selling something, then thats different. If they have something in AH that I want and its selling for a ridicules price I MIGHT inquire about it.

About Spam: It doesn't bother me TOO much when I'm near an Add bot in town. I just 1. put them on /ignore, then 2. report them. WoW has made it easier to report spammers so it takes me all of 2 minutes to do that. BUT when I'm a very low level and I get a group invite out of the blue and I'm sure its just a spammer who wants to group with me, spam then leave, I make a zone wide macro that says "don't except group invites from Spammers". I get hit with those once every 5-8 minutes, sometimes. I do not accept or decline group invites. I think it slows them down some. I wish there was a way to auto decline. I think that will almost stop that type of spammer.

it used to be about every 5 minutes in trade chat

but blizzard has crackdown on these guys by having people from blizzard "work" for these companies and get their accounts banned. so all blizzard has to do is keep up what they are doing now
