Nope, unfortunately it isn't a duplication exploit. But a very legit way of making money.
Purchase around 100 snow balls and store them in your bank, or make an alt especially for storing a thousand and forget about it for a few months. After a few months, the price of a bunch of 20 snowballs varies quite dramatically, at least 1g per stack. I've seen a bunch selling at 10g each once. Also, the reindeer mount reward you get from the season quest. Keep all 3 of those in your bank, and you could get 5g each for them.
