Small Eggs are needed for a quest which gives worthless items, but its still needed to complete the quest so once u do all the quests u get a reward.

They sell for few gold per stack of 5 on the auction house.

They are dropped by "Wiry/Taloned Swoop" all over Mulgore. (Horde)
And also by "Fleshripper" in Westfall. (Alliance)

This is a very nice time for low levels to get money.

They do sell for high amounts and you can also lvl your cooking later. Save some in the bank so that when you get your cooking to the lvl where you can make the eggs into tasty treats, you can lvl your cooking fairly fast.

Why lvl your cooking? If you have a higher cooking lvl you can make your own food from drops and increase your health and mana quickly. It's amazing what some give you. Roasted Quail gives tons of health and if you work your way up you will be buying less potions for health/mana before an instance.

Just cook your food!
