Once the cities get decorated with colorful lights and a christmas tree at a certain place in the city, christmas season has already started. During this season, Small Egg demand will rise, due to it being needed to make Gingerbread Cookies, a low level seasonal food which is needed to offer to the Great-Father Winter in Orgrimmar or Ironforge, depending on the faction. There's a quest from him that when you give him 5 Gingerbread Cookies and an Ice Cold Milk, he'll give you a gift box which hold a stack of 10 low level trade materials (Light Leather, Mageroyal, Bolts of Linen, etc). Not that they aren't very grand, but most players would like to do this quest for the season.

So if you want some extra cash, you can sell those Small Eggs that you happen to stock up during the off-season for a higher price than normal, since the demand will increase for players who want to make Gingerbread Cookies, or Egg Nog.

Where are the popular places for Small Eggs? From low level birds, particularly vultures or owls. For Alliance, there are several places that are good for farming these. There is Westfall, with vultures scattered across the map. Also, there are some vultures in Redridge Mountains so you might want to look it up too. And don't forget the vultures in the east side of Loch Modan. If you aren't too bothered to go to a far away newbie zone, might as well go to Teldrassil, and go to Dolanaar. There are low level owls around the area which can drop Small Eggs. Finally, there's Darkshore, where you can kill those moonkins for the eggs. There are tons of moonkin caves located east of Auberdine so you probably won't be worrying about not having enough Small Eggs.

For Horde, Mulgore is the only lowbie place which has bird mobs for getting Small Eggs. And those vultures are pretty rare, and spread all over the whole map, so its going to be a pain getting those eggs if you're Horde.
