Consistent sea raids from Chaos forces have been assaulting Nordland for quites some time and judging by the destroyed villages there is no indication they will stop. The Dark Gods are pleased by this rampant destruction of the Empire and the war will continue until one side is obliterated. Serving no other purpose than to kill and demolish, these barbaric warriors leave a trail of annihilation in their wake.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thoshafin Graveyard
In the northwest of Norsca your adventure as any Chaos Chosen, Magus, Marauder, or Zealot begins near a dark portal. The staging ground for an assault on the Empire town of Thoshafin you'll want to first talk with Skulorg Blackhorn who offers your first quests in this area. Seer Thaena to the left will also offer you a quest in the same area. You'll take a lovely stroll to the graveyard in the east which includes a scenic tour of a ghost filled crypt. After turning in your quests to Kalitra the Demoncaller you'll be instructed to go shoot the Hellcannon to south.
You should have reached Rank 2 by now so return to the dark portal area to train and turn in what quests you had. At any time you can speak with a Raven Warmonger to grab a quest for the Guns of Nordenwatch Scenario which not only provides a little Rank experience for completion but is a rich source of Renown early on. It's not recommended before level 5 unless you are a ranged class. Skulorg Blackhorn will now send you off on a task to the west which will have you exterminating some Gor and Ungor. You will now be directed to help assault the village.
Thoshafin
You could actually reach this area just jumping off the cliff near the beginning but you would have missed out on all those nifty quests. It's now time to prove your worth as a warrior of Chaos by helping assault the village. The Empire has sent soldiers to defend it, so this will be no cakewalk. Dyre the Heartrender, The Eidolon, and Madgr the Soureaper will all give you a first round of quests to go into town and pillage. Completing all of these will put you will into Rank 3.
After you've burned a few homes, killed Tower Guards and Spearman, and found your barrels and chests (which are in various locations all over town) you'll receive a second round which will have you chasing a Courier near the graveyard, killing a Captain on the church steps, and confronting a Bright Wizard at the top of a tower.
Ritual of Power
Running straight through the village will bring you to a T intersection and just to your right you'll see a smoking crater in the ground. As we know, smoking craters always signify a Public Quest and here is your chance to not only grind out some experience but grab some decent gear completing Proving Ground.
Public Quests are not usually recommended for leveling and the gear can easily be replaced with Renown Gear of the appropriate level. If you are looking to level quickly, maxing your influence on this individual Public Quest takes time you could spend elsewhere. However, if you can find a PQ group clearing one out, you'll get some decent experience for it the first time losing only a few minutes. If your goal is fun though, Public Quests fit the bill and we'd recommend trying them.
Finish up your few reamining quest objectives to the east and the head west across the bridge to Wulfsiege.
Wulfsiege
After literally going over the river and through the woods you'll end up at Wulfsiege which is your next quest hub. Sursten the Deceiver will send you up a hill to gather some mushrooms but many quests from Hvalr, Brandr the Grey, and others will send you to locations south and south east. It would also be a good idea to talk to the Rallymaster and change your binding point.
This area also begins the Chapter 2 Public Quests one of which (Destruction of the Weak) can be found right in front of you just south of the camp. You'll have at least one quest to kill Spearmen here from Thrallmaster Ogron and there is usually a group working on it, so no reason not to join in for some quick experience. At least one quest will send you to the Ruins of Holmsteinn for an update and you'll need to kill Geir Skammalus on the tower steps. Stop by Suderholm to the east of here to find the Power Hungry Villager and the Destruction of the Weak Public Quest. Amund's to the far east might be more trouble than their worth if you are solo based on their location at the bottom of a crypt.
Blessed Gathering Warcamp and Beyond
The last major quest hub in Tier 1 is the Blessed Gathering Warcamp which sits on the edge of Norsa and Nordland providing easy access to the RvR battlefield. RvR will not provide a significant amount of experience but if you haven't been doing much, it's a good time to grind out a few levels by jumping in the scenarios or looking for hot spots on the battlefield. Renown gear will usually outshine whatever you might get from quests and a few of these quests like kill 10 enemy players is repeatable.
After you've had your fill of RvR, move south to the final hub called Authun's Host which is really just a few NPC's standing around a flaming house. Svatr Oleifson and Konrad Schulman have assignments that will take you into the heavily fortified Salzenmund to kill guards, an undead champion, and even bribe a gatekeeper. A small group can kil extensively in here as mob saturation is high so if you have a few friends this is a great spot to grind. At this point you should have reached Rank 10 or 11 and it is time to move on to Ostland to continue your adventures.
